Job Description
The Engineering Services Department, Facilities and Operations Division is seeking an intern who will gain exposure to municipal construction project management practices including procurement, contract administration, construction oversight, regulatory compliance, and capital project delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Project Coordination Support:
Assist project managers with day-to-day coordination of construction projects. Help maintain project schedules, organize project documentation, track submittals and RFIs, and assist with preparation of meeting materials and project updates.
Construction Documentation:
Support the review and organization of project documents including drawings, specifications, contracts, submittals, change orders, and field reports. Maintain project files and assist with document control.
Construction Observation and Site Visits:
Participate in site visits with project managers to observe construction progress. Assist with field documentation, site photos, punch list tracking, and preparation of observation reports.
Meeting and Communication Support:
Attend project meetings including progress meetings, coordination meetings, and internal project reviews. Assist with meeting agendas, notes, and follow-up action items.
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- No previous experience required
- Must be enrolled in a four-year degree for a related field of study with an accredited institution of higher education
