Overview

The Release of Information (ROI) Specialist is responsible and accountable for the timely and accurate release of patient medical information in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, federal regulations, and state statutes. Functions include assuring proper documentation prior to release of records, tracking the status to completion of pending ROI requests, strong communication skills and ability to manage high volume multi-phone lines and assist with ROI Customer Service Representative functions, when required. Effectively confirming patient information, scanning, indexing and/or uploading clinical documents for release of information. Individuals must possess the skills necessary to troubleshoot ROI and related requests for accessing on-line documentation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate Degree in Health Information Technology, Paralegal, or other healthcare experience or training preferred.
  • Customer Service experience in healthcare or non-healthcare environment.
