Assist with the management of accounting operations. Manage the accounting for the restricted, capital and debt funds. Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements including necessary schedules, reconciliations and allocations. Assemble and analyze data and transactions applying generally accepted accounting principles. Manage timely, thorough, and accurate month-end close process. Originate and input journal entries. Provide information to faculty, staff and students; explain transactions; resolve accounting issues and discrepancies. Manage general ledger account reconciliations and balancing, including bank reconciliations and asset and liability accounts. Assist with general ledger maintenance, including updates and removals. Manage gift accounting and gift processing in cooperation with Advancement team. Manage fixed asset system and process. Manage endowment and investment accounting in the general ledger. Assist with periodic ERP general ledger testing. Assist with the management of the year-end financial and Single Audit (A 133) preparation. Assist with annual athletic reporting requirements (EADA and NCAA surveys). Assist with annual preparation and submission of IRS form 990. Create process documentation and instructions. Maintain strict confidentiality of student and university information, adhering to FERPA and other applicable regulations. Perform backup duties for Finance Office personnel as assigned. Non-Essential Duties. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned to meet departmental or University needs. Required Experience, Knowledge, and Skills. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current CPA licensure or master's degree is preferred . years of general ledger accounting experience, preferably in a higher education or nonprofit setting. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software and Windows-based applications; Jenzabar experience preferred. Exceptional follow-up and follow-through skills as well as ability to plan, organize and control projects through to completion, ensure timely completion of goals, objectives and deadlines. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands. Proven ability to convey complex accounting information in a concise, easily understood manner to a wide range of constituencies. Ability to quickly learn and apply new knowledge and skills. Proven exceptional attention to detail and ability to consistently produce error free results. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and track record of proactive communication. Proven ability to identify, define, analyze, and resolve complex problems. Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
